Tips for Staging a Paint Perfect House to Sell

When you’re selling your home, it’s comparable to cooking a meal for 100 people. You don't want it to be overly bland or very spicy. Creating a neutral palette with just the right amount of taste to please the majority increases your asking price as well as your ability to sell your home quickly.

Here are some tips to increase how sellable your home is plus adds value to your asking price.

Paint with a KISS (keep it simple). Concentrate your efforts on the rooms that can be seen from the doorway right away upon entering your home: the dining room, living room, kitchen, and any other major living areas.

Keep in mind that people need to be able to picture their unique style in your Orlando home. If the interior paint colors are too bold or too mundane it makes it more difficult for a potential buyer to envision making your house into their dream home.

When selecting paint colors, picture potential buyers walking into a light, pleasing palette that piques their interest and allows them to envision their furniture and belongings in your rooms.

Neutral hues and earthy tones are the ideal interior paint colors for selling a home. Think warm beige, light gray, off-white verging on yellow and white.

As you choose paint samples, consider the following questions:

Does it have a welcoming, warm vibe?

Does it seem chilly or monotonous?

Looking to add value to your home? Choose a light blue or grey color for your kitchen. According to research, homes with a kitchen of this interior paint hue often sold for about $2,000 more than homes with white walls.

Another alternative to using neutral interior paint colors is that they can save you money when you paint the interior of your home in one or two shades. Additionally, neutral hues for your home’s interior look great with common wooden furniture and decorations like crown molding, benches, and floating shelves. Along with grey, white, or beige, popular wall accents like iron sconces and antique brass lamps complement these colors.

Take the finish into account before choosing your interior paint colors. Your decision could be influenced by how light reflects off the paint. It's important to keep in mind that a glossy finish is ideal for high-traffic areas and often soiled surfaces like kitchen walls because it's so simple to clean.

For the finish in the kitchen and bathroom, go with high gloss.

For the living area, choose a satin finish.

For bedrooms, consider using an eggshell finish.

Can’t make your mind up between beige and grey?  Go with “greige.” “Greige," is a blend of grey and beige. In a formal setting, greige can provide a more dramatic, opulent appearance without deviating from the neutral effect you are trying to achieve.

What about the exterior of your Orlando-area home?  When painting older, Florida sun-weathered walls, choose matte paint (also known as flat). This coating is excellent for hiding flaws in your home's exterior. If you have a newer home with fewer flaws, you can choose an eggshell or satin finish. For trim on the exterior of your home, semi-gloss and gloss are recommended.
